Pharmaceutics deals with various strategies concerned with administration of therapeutic active molecules to the body by several routes. It includes study of designing, development and evaluation of conventional and novel drug delivery systems.
This department was started since the inception of the college. During B.Pharm, emphasis is laid on fundamentals of pharmaceutics like study of dosage forms, physico-chemical characterization of drug(s), unit operations and manufacturing pharmacy.
P. G. Course in pharmaceutics (M.Pharm) was startedi n the academic year 2005-06. During this course, emphasis is laid on studying advanced or new techniques in manufacturing, optimization and application of pharmacokinetics in development of dosage forms.
The department has independent laboratories equipped with adequate facilities for teaching D.Pharm, B.Pharm and M.Pharm course. For M.Pharm course, the department is equipped with modern teaching aids like computers, LCD and OHP. The department is also well equipped with instruments viz.,
Single and multi - station tableting machine,
Digital dissolution and disintegration testing apparatus,
UV - spectrophotometer,
Ultrasonicator,
Stability testing/humidity chambers and
Centrifugal apparatus etc,
To include independency among the students during M.Pharm, they are motivated to take various activities like Journal club, assignments, laboratory works, and regular class seminars. The students can access various Pharmaceutical journal published internationally during their study through HELINET facility of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science to access.
